In this tutorial we will teach you how to setup your email with Windows Live Mail
Before you begin, you will need the following information:
Username: This is your email address
Password: Password to the email account being configured
Mail Server: This is mail.yourdomain.com
(For example, here at Emagine our domain name is emaginemore.com, so our mail server is mail.emaginemore.com)
- Launch Windows Live Mail from the Start Menu.
- Go to the Tools menu, and then select All Accounts.
- In the navigation column, click Add e-mail account.
- In the Email Address field, enter your full email address.
- In the Password field, enter your password.
- Select if you want to Remember Password.
- In the Display Name field, enter how you want your name to display when email is sent from this account, and then click Next.
- Select your server type and enter your Incoming POP or IMAP Server. Use these settings for your incoming server. It is the same for both IMAP and POP:
Incoming mail server: mail.yourdomain.com - Incoming server Port:
IMAP: 143
POP: 110 - DO NOT select This server requires a secure connection (SSL).
- Select to log on using Clear text authentication.
- In the Login ID field, enter your full email address.
- In the Outgoing server field, enter your Outgoing POP or IMAP Server. It is the same for both IMAP and POP:
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mail.yourdomain.com - Outgoing server Port: 25
- DO NOT select This server requires a secure connection (SSL).
- Select My outgoing server requires authentication, and then click Next.
- Click Finish.
That's it. If everything is working properly, you should see email messages in your Windows Live Mail Inbox.
